One of the ways Congregate serves the Charlottesville community is by serving as a fiscal sponsor to groups that align with Congregate’s mission.  Fiscal sponsorship allows local BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) led groups, and groups with an anti-racism focus, that are not ready to incorporate as non-profits a low-barrier, free-of-charge way to exist and organize without the fiscal and organizational burden.

Groups we have sponsored, or are currently sponsoring:

What is fiscal sponsorship?

  • Fiscal sponsorship means that Congregate is providing a way for a group to raise money and spend money within a structure of community accountability.

  • Congregate offers a two year fiscal sponsorship which can be renewed for an additional two years.

  • The goal is that at the end of the first two year sponsorship, the given group will have a sense of direction in terms of their non-profit and/or fiscal bookkeeping needs.

  • This fiscal sponsorship can be canceled (and any monies returned) at any time by either party with 48 hours written notice.

If your group is interested in becoming a fiscal sponsorship partner with Congregate, send us an email.
